Vice Chair for Programs

Nancy served as Chapter Chair for Membership the past four years and served as Chapter Secretary for 2021 -2022. She has recently been elected as Vice Chair for Programs.

Nancy Nenow’s career as an educator afforded her opportunities to take long leaves from her work. She was very fortunate to begin traveling around the world in the early 70’s. Since then, international travel has been a constant avocation with special interest in indigenous peoples, crafts, and photography.
After retirement, Nancy began filling her time when not traveling by volunteering at the San Diego Natural History Museum. She was trained as a para-botanist and began accompanying the museum staff on collecting trips in the mountains and desert around San Diego County as well as several long expeditions to remote areas of Baja California. To date, she has collected more than 3,500 botanical specimens for the Natural History Herbarium. Several of those specimens are new to San Diego County botanical records.
In 2015 Nancy married Explorers Club member and now San Diego Chapter member David Dolan, MED’03.
Nancy has served on the San Diego Chapter’s Executive Committee for many years and for 4 years served as San Diego Chapter Chair. She is now serving nationally as the Vice-President for Membership. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society.
